Totally Epic Birthday

Are you ready for the fun Birthday Bash week at StampNation?  I can't show you the Design Team card I made for today's challenge because it is an exclusive.  If you are a member you can head on over to today's challenge and see it there.  :)  What I can do is give you a sneek peak.

Can you guess what the challenge is?  I can tell you I used Add A Little Dazzle metal sheets run through an embossing folder to create the frosting on top of my cupcakes.  I can also tell you I used Copic markers to color in the cherries because I didn't have any red nor green metal sheets

By now you probably know that Catherine is hosting a huge giveaway on her YouTube channel.  If you haven't click here to go to her blog for all the deets.  Today's giveaway is sponsored by CAS-ual Fridays Stamps.  Being on the Design Team means I'm not eligible to win any prizes, but that didn't stop my from playing along with the challenge and using one of my favorite stamp sets for teenage guys.  (RAD)

I have to say a little something about card #2.   When I cut out the little banner you see at the top I was cutting the opposite side which had a blue background, I think. But, when I flipped it over  I saw that I had cut out the "14" from the ruler on the opposite side.  My youngest and most of his friends are turning 14 this year, so I knew I had to make this second card using the "14" banner.  :)

This last card is possibly my favorite.  It looks so masculine to me.  While I was working on this card my 13 year old son came in and saw the embossed black metal sheet (Add A Little Dazzle).  He told me it looked cool.  High praise from a 13 year old boy.

Did you notice the little black squares on the third card?   They were taken from the film strip I had punched out.  I think they add just the right touch, don't you?  I love that the black metal looks so cool when you sand it and let the silver metal shine through. Can you tell I'm really liking the metal sheets I got just before Christmas?  Now I need to order the sample pack with all the colors because the 5 I bought just aren't enough.

As if all this awesomeness wasn't enough I found out that the Friday Mashup crew is having a Birthday challenge of its own.  Holly, the creator of the challenge, is also a January birthday girl.  I'm keeping the celebration going by linking up with her challenge.

Wow, what an awesome post. I can't even begin to pick a favorite Epic Dude card from those three! Each one has some detail I love! I didn't know about those metal sheets, but they sound (and look) fabulous. Thanks for the video tutorial, too.

Love all of these masculine cards for teenagers, Heather! They are the hardest to make cards for in my opinion. Thanks for all the great ideas and for playing with us at the Friday Mashup this week.

Heather, these are great designs and use of supplies- truly masculine and super cool- but the most impressive thing about them is that your son approved of them- WIN! Thanks for sharing your talent with us at the Friday Mashup!
